Alarm Reduction Award Enters Fifth Year of Growth The North American award for companies who play a proactive role in reducing unnecessary police dispatches continues to grow, as industry-supported advocates work towards educating city governments and alarm companies on how to reduce these calls. Created by the Security Industry Alarm Coalition (SIAC) and the False Alarm Reduction Association (FARA), and co-sponsored by Honeywell Security and Security Sales & Integration Magazine, the Police Dispatch Quality (PDQ) Award recognizes the North American security company that best demonstrates a dedicated and cooperative effort to reduce unnecessary alarm dispatches. Award organizers are currently seeking applications from security companies that exemplify an all-out effort to reduce false alarms by implementing such best practices as Enhanced Call Verification (ECV), utilizing ANSI CP01-compliant control panels, training customers and working closely with law enforcement. The best overall collaboration will be honored with the 5th Annual PDQ Award. To participate in the 5th Annual PDQ Award, monitoring and/or installing alarm dealers in the U.S. and Canada must mail an application postmarked by Feb. 28, 2010. Potential applicants may download an application and the judging criteria package at www.siacinc.org. |

October 5, 2009 – In conjunction with National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association (NBFAA) name change to the Electronic Security Association (ESA), the Wisconsin Burglar & Fire Alarm Association (WBFAA) is pleased to announce that effective January 1, 2010, the Wisconsin Burglar & Fire Alarm Association will become the Wisconsin Electronic Security Association. After thorough consideration the WBFAA Executive Committee and its Board of Directors voted to follow suit of the national Electronic Security Association (ESA). The update will strengthen our association and allow us to connect with a broader membership demographic.Additionally, the proposed name: - More accurately represents the services members and prospective members provide.
- Positions the Association to make its strongest case to the public and authorities.
- Strengthens security causes with state and local legislators as lobbying efforts are increased.
- Positions the Association to grow its membership and widen its influence.
The Association’s mission of promoting, protecting and to serving the members and their businesses will remain the same. This updated name more accurately reflects the technologies in which our members are engaged. The Wisconsin Burglar and Fire Alarm Association is not only changing the name but updating the logo, the brand and the overall look. Wisconsin Electronic Security Association members can plan on receiving these changes prior to January 1, 2010.
